11/11/2019 0 Comments Final Reflection When I first came into this class I only knew basically how to turn on a camera and focus it. I could take pictures in auto, but not any good ones. The composition assignment was very helpful to me to just see the basics of taking a good photo. You can see they are not good photos, down below I've included my best ones and still they aren't very good. I thought that they were pretty good, but looking back at them they're not good. Once I learnt about the exposure triangle and got the hang of it my photos improved but still were not very good. I had trouble with manual focus when people were running because it took me a minute to get the image looking good. Then, I didn't edit my photos because by the time that I got the photos opened on photoshop they took too long to get it into a jpeg and I didn't have time to edit them. I learnt how to do the adjustments, but that was it. When you look at the first few photos I turned in all I could do was mess with contrast and lighting. Look right to see one of my first photos which barely had any editing done to it at all. I was able to properly set them up and take good raw photos, you can see there is not much editing on the ones above. If you look at some of my later photos you can see my skill improve. Look below to see the original still life photo taken compared to the edited version. I was able to make the grass look greener and bring out the black of the felt board. Then you can look at my photoshop. Originally when I started on photoshop I was so confused and everything just took me a really long time to get. Working with adjustments was all I knew. Look at the second car I did. I wasn't able to select it properly so I actually drew in the wheel with paintbrush. Even when you look at multiple me, you can see which one I did first and which one I did after getting the hang of it. Then look at one of my tutorial, it was way more steps though I was able to complete that well.

11/7/2019 0 Comments Photoshop Assignments - PunsFor this assignment, we had a lot more freedom. We got to make visual puns. Mine are french fries, ladybug, and soap opera. Basically, visual puns are a phrase or word that you can guess by looking at the photo. Something I learned was how to use history. I haven't made any huge mistakes that I couldn't fix with a Command Z so I hadn't experienced using history. On the photo of the fries there was a watermark that I had to get rid of and in the process of doing that I had made the background of that original layer white so when I went to change the background color there were white spots. I learned then to put the background color first.
11/4/2019 0 Comments Photo 7 - Black and WhiteThis is the last photo assignment, I chose to do black and white which is where you turn the photo black and white in photoshop and mess with the contrast, hue, saturation, etc. I loved this photo that I took of my dog and had already used my open and animal slots up so I turned it black and white with the rest of these photos. I learnt about turning a photo black and white isn't enough, you have to really work on other stuff to get it to look the way you want. If I were to take these photos again I would've taken more time setting it up so that the aperture is fitting with the shutter speed with the amount of light in the area I'm taking the photo.

10/28/2019 0 Comments Photo 6 - Open (Dogs)This was my open photography assignment, for which I chose dogs. Of course, my dog looks very photogenic, she just is really squirmy. That made these hard pictures to get because she was constantly trying to leave the leaf pile. My original vision for this photo is her whole body in a leaf pile and just her head poking out while she was surrounded by leaves. She wouldn't stay in the pile so I had to have my brother hold some leaves over her head and that worked for a few pictures. Then, I took some of her in her little jacket because she looked real cute. Her facial expressions in these pictures really show her personality. What I would have done differently was I would have made the aperture a little smaller so that I could allow some more light in. They looked a good exposure while I was editing them, but now that I look at them I would've brought up the light.
10/25/2019 0 Comments Photoshop Assignment - Multiple MeI liked this assignment, putting many of Amelia in a photo. I couldn't figure out how to set the timer on my camera so instead of multiple me it's multiple Amelia. The second one I had to do in 10 minutes because I spend a lot of time perfecting the first one. So you can see that it's not that good.
10/21/2019 3 Comments Photo Assignment, 5 - MacroFor this assignment, I definitely would've lowered my ISO a lot. I didn't realize it was that high when I took the picture. I really need to look at it instead of just looking at just shutter speed and aperture. I liked how in the one I edited the color of the apple is more bold, but it is a bit too bold. Learnt about the macro setting, I thought that you just went in close and didn't know there was an actual setting.
10/21/2019 0 Comments Photoshop Assignment #3For this assignment, I took a picture of the school and added all of my favorite tv shows characters to the picture. I didn't know how the photoshop read and I learnt how you can put something overlapping and behind someone's hand. I would've looked a little longer for better pictures of Postman Pat (the person in the bottom left corner), but that was hard because I wanted the original and that was very low quality since it was old. That was what I watch though.
10/14/2019 2 Comments Photo 4 Assignment, Still LifeFor this assignment I chose to do still life. I was struggling with what I could set up that hadn't already been done because I wanted this picture to be one of my best. The real issue was finding baby shoes, but I really wanted to do this. The words,"For sale: baby shoes, never worn," was written by Ernest Hemingway when he was challenged to write a 6 word story. Think about how that can be a story and see what you think it may mean. It was a sunny day so I didn't have any problems with light so if I would've done this again I would lowered ISO.
10/10/2019 0 Comments PanoramasFor this assignment we were trying out panoramas. I've used the mode on my phone, but never on an actual camera. Our task was to take pictures and then use photomerge on Adobe Photoshop to put the images together. For me this was a little difficult because I had to use manual focus, which I am not good at. I tried hard to pay attention to exposure and these look a little dark now that I look at them. |
