9/26/2019 0 Comments Photoshop - PopArtFor this assignment, we were supposed to explore Adobe Photoshop a little by making a Pop Art. We took a random picture and we made 4 of them and changed their colors so that you can see the different hue/saturations that you can do. I personally haven't used a Mac properly in a while. I just open chrome or safari and do stuff from there so it was really helpful for me to see that you can do a ton on the bar at the top. I never knew that file and edit could lead to so much while you're in an application. I always thought that was for when you were just on the desktop. I also didn't know what that there were so many options when it comes to Adobe Photoshop.

9/25/2019 0 Comments Photos of Inspiration - EventThis weekend there is a race for a charity in my town. A race is an event and even though it's not as elegant as the parties or galas pictured above I believe I can get some good photos of people running and them crossing the finish line. They pass through my neighborhood so hopefully I can take pictures without getting in trouble for not having permission. There won't be much food or anything good on tables to photographs unless plastic water bottles count. This will be a challenge, but hopefully I can capture their happiness/exhaustion when they finish.

9/20/2019 0 Comments Photos of Inspiration - AnimalThis weekend I'm going to be taking pictures of my dog. I love dogs and capturing a cute dog's personality is amazing in photographs. Some of my favorite Instagram dogs are @mayapolarbear and @hermaninthehood and @coconutricebear. They take amazing photographs of their dogs and aren't they just incredible photographs and an incredible subject. They always have good lighting and make the dogs look like they have human personalities, which all dogs do.
9/16/2019 0 Comments Aperture & Shutter SpeedShutter Speed Examples 1/2 1/20For this assignment, my goal was to show the difference that shutter speed makes when you're taking a picture on your camera. Shutter speed is how long that light is allowed into the camera. That means that pictures with a slower shutter speed will have some motion blur, where as higher shutter speed doesn't. In these pictures you can see that the one with the slower shutter speed (the first one) there is very obvious motion blur on the person running and the one with the higher shutter speed (the fourth one) will not have motion blur and it looks like the person running is standing still. Also, the faster the shutter speed is the darker the image will be because it doesn't have much time to allow light into the camera. So you'll have to use aperture and ISO to keep it a good exposure. Aperture ExamplesHere you can see the difference in the first picture and the fourth due to the change in aperture. With a higher f-stop number you can see that the whole image is sharp and as you lower the f-stop number the image becomes less sharp all around and the depth of field is smaller. Depth of field is one of the composition components that I focused on in my last post. Small f-stop number means small depth of field and big f-stop number means big depth of field. It is that amount of light that you let into the lens of the camera, the smaller f-stop number has a larger hole that the light can come through. Cameras are truly remarkable in that they are so complex and any little thing is so important in capturing the best image you can get. Frequently asked questions... Q: What does a fast shutter speed do to the image? A: It changes two things, it makes the image have no motion blur and it makes it so that the image is darker due to the short time that light is allowed into the image. Q: What does a slow shutter speed do to the image? A: This is the complete opposite of the fast shutter speed. What it does is make it so that the light is let into the camera for a long time causing the image to have motion blur and be lighter. Q: A large aperture causes what effect on the image? A: A large aperture makes it so that the lens is more open and the more light can come into the image. This also means a small f-stop number. Therefore, it will be a brighter image with a small depth of field. Q: A small aperture causes what effect on the image? A: A small aperture means that the there will be a larger f-stop number and a darker image with a larger depth of field. 9/10/2019 0 Comments CompositionFor this assignment, we were exploring the elements of composition regarding photography. What makes a photograph good? These are like the "laws" of photography that you should consider while taking a photograph. I never knew what rule of thirds or depth of field meant. I always thought that you have to have the object in the middle third box, it was the complete opposite. I also learned that there are some key components of photography that I'd never learned.
9/9/2019 0 Comments IntroductionI'm Charlotte Burchill, a freshman at Saline High School. This is my photography blog! In this post I'll let you know a little bit about myself. I am a dog lover living in Michigan who is part of the Saline Marching Band. In my free time I enjoy watching Netflix and hanging out with my dog. You may also catch me reading or writing. I decided to take this photography class mainly to take good pictures of my dog for her instagram. Though, I also joined because my brother is a cinematographer and it would be nice to know what he is talking about when he's working on his stuff. I don't have any experience with cameras except the one on my phone so this could be interesting to watch me get better as time goes on. |
